I didn’t think I could get through the beginning of the book because of the uncomfortable content. To imagine going through it in real life is heart wrenching. I’m glad I came back to it and stick with it. It pulled me in however, it slowed down towards the end for me.

One of my favorite books. I read this right at the start of my career working with families in the foster care system, and I believe EVVERYONE, especially Judges, who are in this field should read this book.

I am a fast reader, but it took me almost a month to get through this book, and not because I didn't like it, I loved it so much, but it was hard for me to keep reading at times. I am well aware of the problem many people have, called addiction, but this was the first time I was able to imagine just how bad and disgusting drugs and alcohol can be. The story of Cupcake Brown is amazing and truly inspiring. I was in tears for the majority of this book. Everyone should give it a read. I did, and it will forever be one of my favourites.
I would have given it 5 stars but it was just too much usage of the “F” word. Still, overall I liked the book.
I really, really liked this book! Within the first 40 pages it was shocking to think about all she had been through already - and it's a 400+ page book! If this was a fiction book, you would be thinking that the author was trying to fit in every stereotype and then a nice, happy ending. Sadly, it's not a fiction story. It's shocking and sad to think that this entire story is true, but unfortunately, it is. I really loved this book and I'm sure I will think about it for a long time to come!
