Although I didn't think it was as amazing as Day 21's sequel, the book was still very gratifying. I too don't like it when TV show artwork is used as book covers, thus I'm looking forward to Rebellion (4th book)!

Een mooi einde voor een bijzondere serie! Het is wel een stuk lichter en zoeter dan de serie, maar in het geval van the 100 hoor je mij daarover niet klagen!

*Spoilers*

I'm almost done with the series and honestly so ready to see how it ends; however, the ending for this book doesn't seem to be setting up much; we'll see what Kass Morgan has in store for us!

I'm unsure if this is obvious, but I have been listening to the audiobooks, and then I'll have small notes on what I want included in my review. The first thing I have is the gay characters are not fleshed out. The audience doesn't learn much about the two individuals besides the fact that they are always holding hands or looking for each other. Where is the story or at least characteristics about them? They are the only side-character relationships we learn about, yet we know little to nothing about them individually. They are a side couple and poorly written, with no attributes I can distinguish. If I am introduced to a character, I would at least like to know their importance in the story. I also find it appalling that none of the girls in the book ever do anything to these musty men who are verbally assaulting them, except, I guess, Glass did to Carter. Still, it doesn't feel like justice because she immediately feels bad about it. I also wrote in my notes that childhood friends can hug each other because I'm pretty sure it's in Well's POV, but he said, "Oh, I can't comfort Glass because it's not my place anymore" That sounds exactly like what a best friend who's been there since childhood would do. There is nothing toxic about hugging someone you care about when they are grieving and need support. Also, Glass said she "missed the days when he (Wells) belonged to her the most."

WHAT?

What does that mean? You have a boyfriend. I'm so confused.

I also think it's funny how Glass supposedly knows Luke so well, so when she tells him that Rhodes will make him kill Bellamy and he's like, no, I won't, she's like, omg, I'm so proud.

OBVIOUSLY, HE WASN'T GOING TO! It sounds like she expected that he might have said he would have gone through with it, so she doesn't know him well, does she?

I also noted that Bellamy said that he and Clark would be like Adam and Eve on Earth, but if we look at the story, does he know what goes down? Because that doesn't sound like a fun time.

Also, Glass and Luke's leaving made no sense if they were going to go off on their own. Why did they not just meet the group back at Sasha's house? I know it was to show some life Glass and Luke would like for themselves and to acknowledge that they need others to live after depending on themselves for so long. Additionally, it was essential to show that Glass can protect herself and Luke when required, but her constant saying that she would die without Luke makes her seem more pathetic than she is. "If Luke dies, she'll die. Glass knew that like her own name". Like no, you won't. She found her way back to camp by herself after spending little to no time in the woods. She can save her man and be independent, I want her to believe she is powerful and resilient. I want to root for Glass and even support her relationship with Luke, but I don't like either by the way they're written.

I also noted that Wells and Sasha's relationship isn't fully developed (not that the others are anything great). They also say they love each other, but I don't see how after only a few weeks. I also was like, oh, what if they kill Sasha off, and then they did, so that was an interesting turn of events, I guess (a little predictable), except I actually wanted to know more about Sasha and her father. I wanted to feel something about their bond when she died instead of a romantic relationship that I barely cared for. I also noted a lot of self-blame and hate is rooted in Wells because he thinks everything is his fault. I can see that stemming a lot from his position as a leader. Still, I would have preferred it if Wells had been more emotional and less violent when expressing himself because it would have made more sense. Still, he also bundles up his emotions, which may cause him to be violent, so I don't know. I think he needs a good cry instead of punching walls, but that's just my opinion.

Wells also randomly says he was in Earth combat conditioning classes on the Ark. Why aren't we shown this? Why are we being told this? I want more showing and less telling, please.

I like listening to this series purely because I like how annoyed I get about things. It's still a fast read, but I don't think much is fleshed out. I also remember less and less of each book because I feel like so much happens, yet nothing simultaneously. I would rate it 2.5/5. I'm putting a three just because it can sometimes be interesting but not enough to be impactful, but I liked how it wrapped up in the end. I'm hoping the last book is worth it.

There was a lot more plot in this book than the others but I felt like the ending weekend it. I'm still so in love with Bellamy and Clarke's relationship.
