I really enjoyed this. The secret society aspects were interesting, felt a little like A Marvellous Light but in a good way. The main character decides to learn how to do seances in order to track down her sister's killer. It's more focused on the mystery and characters than anything paranormal, but that isn't to say you might find yourself facing some ghosts. I really enjoyed the writing and characters, and especially the Victorian setting. I can definitely see myself reading this again some day.

I liked this book. The characters were genuine, especially Lenna, who i found very accurate in her thoughts and emotions as she was experiencing the events of her story.

For the first half, i thought it was easily predictable; but that changed as i kept reading. Details were different, but my conclusions fell short because of a couple twists i didn’t anticipate.

While I really wanted to enjoy this book it kind of fell a little flat for me. I think it was mostly the writing. I had to use the audiobook to help push me a long to finish it. Overall, story wise it has a gripping story about finding yourself, love, murder, ghosts, and mystery. Great story, but the writing was meh.

Not a book I would normally gravitate toward, but it was really good! It never had that moment where it gripped me and I was rushing to find out what was going to happen next but it was enjoyable just the same.
