This really rocked me. Reminds me of the stories of my grandparents. It feels beautiful to see their stories on paper

This book is such an important read. It's heartbreaking yet hopeful and forces you to see the struggle of immigration from the eyes of people who have to deal with public vitriol for being immigrants during a time where xenophobia was at its worst. This book focuses on the struggles of one family as they immigrate, get broken apart due to deportation and their struggle to reunite. The timeline hops all over the place as it gives context and fills you in on the questions of how, why, where, and so on.

Beautifully done.

This was an emotional and heartfelt book. Although I found the pacing to be a little off at times, the combination of generational stories of this family along with Colombian creation stories and lore wove together a beautiful tapestry. The setting was described so vividly and the characters were given such depth. Towards the beginning of this book I thought we were being presented with dislikable characters, when in fact, their flaws made them more human and relatable.
In addition to the book being well written, the narrator for this audiobook was fantastic. They conveyed such emotion so authentically and was able to give each character their own unique voice.

It's true amazing what people will do at a chance of a better life for their family. My heart aches for the characters and I was constantly scared for them. The fear they lived in. The story is good. I didn't love the writing style and format and switch of pov wasn't easy to follow along

Infinite Country follows a family as they move from Colombia to the US—exposing readers to the darker realities of pursuing "The American Dream." Eventually, half of the family ends up back in Colombia, and the other half remains in the United States. Every page is impactful and thoughtful, but you also feel so much tension as the characters navigate their challenging situations. I was invested in the characters and their journeys and loved the writing—highly recommend!
