A dreamer's tales indeed! I came across Lord Dunasy when reading about the early influence he exerted on H. P. Lovecraft, which tempted me to pick up this little collection of short stories. I am immensely glad I did so; some of them are beautiful, and while Dunsany's prose is a little purple by modern standards, I found it quite evocative.
Mentionworthy favourites include Poltarnees, Beholder of Ocean; Blagdaross; The Madness of Andelsprutz; Carcassonne and The Field.
While I found some stories in this collection a little generic, they are for the most part delightfully imaginative, and the best are quite moving. A very pleasant read for a dreamy day.
