I loved this book so much! It took me back to my days of dance classes and high school crushes. I highly recommend it.

Perfect mind candy - a road-trip rom-com with black teen main characters that are passionate about the arts (she does ballet, he sketches) and want to pursue their passions in art school rather than go the traditional college route that their parents prefer. The characters are interesting, including the ones that they meet along the way - mostly miscellaneous relatives and old friends.

[3.5 stars] i really hope this book finds its way into the hands of all the black ballerinas out there who feel alone with their dream.

This was a short, sweet romance. I loved the idea of the close quarters involved in a road trip and all the things that could go wrong. I liked it, I felt like the representation was important. The YA romance I’ve been reading lately has a lot more parents in it than the dystopian YA I read when I was actually in the target demographic, so it’s refreshing to read about those parent/child relationships. I guess it just didn’t draw me in much, and I found the love interest to be just not that interesting. I don’t think l’ll seek out this author again.

I came into this expecting more due to the very high rating.

I was expecting "hi-jinks and heart stopping romance" but there is none really to be found.

Chloe is an easy to like MC. I didn't really care for Eli too much.

However, it is a quick, light read that anyone can enjoy.

I enjoyed reading this! It was a quick read and was what I was looking for at the moment. If you liked To All the Boys I've Loved Before, I think you would like this. It's a cute cheesy book with purpose/meaning that's ultimately meant to make you feel good (and the cover is so nice to look at!).
