Ah, Nick Offerman. You have done it again.
As a huge fan of Parks and Recreation, I was incredibly excited to read Offerman's memior. This book did not disappoint. It is by no means perfect, but I ate up his tongue-in-cheek humor and his many musings about religion, theatre, and woodworking.
This is probably the only book in which you will find a whole chapter dedicated to facial hair and an author who equates the high brought on by pot with the pleasure associated with chicharrones (pork rinds).
Therefore, this book = awesomeness.

This book was absolutely delightful to read. It made me laugh out loud every few pages or so and just generally put me in a good mood while I was reading it. Nick Offerman is a wonderful human being.
Rated R for language and adult content, should have walked away.
I have never seen a single episode of Parks and Rec, I knew Nick Offerman's simply as "that guy with the wicked stache from that one show that seemed like it was trying to copy The Office."
I read an article one day on FineWoodworking.com about how Nick (we're on a first name basis now) is crazy into woodworking and the quotes of him referencing how there are few things more enjoyable in life than oiling up a gorgeous piece of exotic hardwood that you crafted yourself. I was immediately drawn to him and wanted to read his book. Anyone that passionate about that exact thing is a brother of mine.
Well, I have to admit I laughed my arse off at times but other times I cringed at his vulgarity and skipped ahead (like I said, should have just out it down). His views on religion are sad and often sacrilegious. I don't agree with them or his social views. I couldn't handle his vulgarity either but I would love to craft a canoe or even a paddle with him in his LA wood shop.

I love Nick Offerman, but I didn't jive with this book at all. Three stars mostly for the chapters about his hometown, which is where my husband is from too.
A good book full of basic life lessons and know how. More focused on lessons for aspiring actors, but some good tidbits for any artist.
Everything I thought it would be - didn't disappoint in the slightest.
Nick Offerman is not Ron Swanson. This book is a memoir, not humorous stylings of meat consumption. Most of the bad reviews here have missed that point.
I had mixed reactions to this one. The 3 stars are for the parts of this that made me laugh and were so insightful. They were wonderful. Luckily there were more of the good 3 stars than not.
The 2 taken away were for the parts that felt more "Look at me, my life is amazing all of you are stupid for not living my life. All of you wish you had my life". I have heard many other actors say, it's crazy they pay me to do this job. And I get that. Hollywood and acting, I imagine, are this other world I could never comprehend. There was something over the top about it at moments in this. Like how he talked about his wife. On the one hand, I LOVE hearing about a happy loving relationship. It's so refreshing and I get so annoyed by the people who blame the institution of marriage instead of being realistic about their own mistakes. But instead of waxing poetic about his luck and how finding that person for you is magical. He takes the opportunity to be: YOU WISH YOU HAD MY WIFE. I don't know. All of this, these 2 stars were probably just me not getting his sense of humor and I am sorry it was completely lost on me.
Luckily there was more of the good. I will try one of his other books to see how it is because the down-to-earth part of him is the endearing part and I am here for more of that. I enjoyed those parts way more than I was annoyed at it

Just an absolute delight. He's a wonderful storyteller, has a fascinating life story, and uses the most gorgeous, interesting word choices. I loved reading it, and even laughed out loud (a lot) while reading it on planes and at the airport. Highly recommend it.
