I love listening to the sound of this guy's voice! While I loved him as Ron Swanson on the show Parks and Rec, this novel shows that while he is very much like his character, there is much much more to Nick Offerman than his love of meat and a luxurious moustache. There were times during this audiobook that were a bit boring but then there were moments when I was laughing out loud and let me tell you, there are not many books out there that can bring me to tears in laughter. Offerman is a genuine human being and I feel this novel has some important lessons in it for those who want to hear them.
Definitely listen to this on audiobook. Nick Offerman is hilarious and full of wisdom and assholery. What else would you expect?
I thought I’d like this one. It’s boring and preachy. Sometimes humorous.

🎧 This made me laugh - not as much as I wanted. At times it felt a little to high-horsey preachy and I didn’t expect or appreciate that.
I agree with his take on religion and it not having a place in our government or schools.
I appreciated his encouragement to be yourself.
I didn’t appreciate his insistence that everyone spends too much time in front of screens and that there is more value in being outside and creating. While I definitely agree that we have too much screen time, I think it’s a little judgy to not consider people who may not be in the health or financial position to live a life this way at all times.
Hearing about how much he adores his wife was charming.
Mostly this boiled down to “you do you. Think for yourself and find what makes you happy and do it.”

“I simply knew that I was peculiar and that I was a puzzle to those around me. I was also learning that this weirdness was a part of me that was not to be extinguished.”
“I do think the vast majority of your fellow Americans would appreciate it, kind Creationists, if you silly motherfuckers would keep that bullshit out of our schools. […] it’s irrefutably un-American.”

Nick Offerman offers hilarious and humble tales in this honest memoir. You can't help but hear Ron Swanson's voice narrate this deep and interesting look inside Nick's struggles and victories. I can't wait to read more of his work.
There is not one aspect of this that I'm enjoying or finding compelling so I'm out. In 2021 I am going to make an effort to be honest with myself and DNF books if I'm not enjoying them even if they're books I own physically already and irresponsibly paid money for. I just have to take my book-lumps and use them as a teachable moment: Stop Buying Books.
As for this one, I'm going to put a hold on the ebook in Libby to ctrl+F any Amy Poehler stories and call that just about Enough of Nick Offerman for me for the whole rest of my life, thanks.
