I loved the premise and overall story but the execution fell flat for me. I think it was a mix of the writing being a little choppy and the narrators for the audiobook that made me feel a disconnect with the story.

I did enjoy Carolina and Lalo as characters and the idea of vampire x vampire hunter, but the pacing of their romance just didn’t sell it for me. I loved seeing them come together, but found it hard to believe they were so madly in love.

Anyway, yay vampires and Latinx characters!!

Unfortunately this one didn't really work for me. It wasn't that it was BAD, but I know that I personally am getting away from young adult books. I was hoping this one would be one that worked for me and it just... didn't. The way the characters were acting just felt very young to me, which makes sense since they are young, but it just made me not enjoy my time reading it. I think that I would really like to keep an eye on this author though and if they do end up releasing something in the adult category giving that a try! I did like the characters and the overall story, but it just was a bit too young for me in relation to how the characters were acting.

This was a really great story! I've always enjoyed vampire novels and I loved the world building of this novel. It's always a mystery (in most vampire novels) how vampires were even created but you find out exactly how in this story! It was a really refreshing take on the myth. I enjoyed Lalo and Lina's bouts too. They were really funny together and worked really good as a team. They were so adorable too.

I really enjoyed the audio version of A Cruel Thirst. The readers did a good job. It was fun and easy to follow. I really liked the idea of Lalo trying to undo his vampirism. You don't read about that in supernatural books. I also liked Carolina and Lalos relationship build. It's a short lived enemies to lovers. They fight it so hard which made it funnier because it made them bicker like a couple.

Thank you @prhaudio for an early ALC of this book!

I’m not sure where I sit with this book because I think the setting is amazing, the writing is nice, the characters are cute.

But overall, I was bored. I am not sure if it’s because it’s a vampire book and I expect more from those kinds of books but, overall I was not really fond of this.

The MMC was the vampire in this but he was clumsy? I didn’t really find his character to be very appealing. The FMC is AMAZING. Her confidence is perfect and I love her! I love how he was scared of her when he was the vampire because she was so strong/confident and knew exactly who she was and what she wanted.

Overall, the book is cute. But I personally did not love it. I wanted to love it but I just found myself bored at most of the story about 30% in until the end (the beginning is great!).

Audiobook narrator did a great job! It flows really well and it was wonderful hearing a narrator that matched the story.

thank you PRH International for the ARC!

first, let's take a moment to appreciate the cover!

the MMC was so adorable and I loved the FMC, the plot was good and the banter??? loved it. some of the dialogue was a bit cheesy, but I found it cute🙂‍↕️ however, I feel like the end of the story was a bit rushed, and the romance developed out of nowhere. it started out well, with tension between them, but then it felt like it was escalating way too fast. overall, it was a cute and easy read, and I’m glad I had the opportunity to read this book!

Honestly romance/romantasy as a genre I think is just not for me, but I also felt that the writing and the story were just sort of mid-range. If it hadn't been for a book club I probably would not have finished this book.
