This was a plane read, a was perfectly suited to that (read in one setting). Really interesting premise - woman attacked, has a week to live post injury, decides to solve her own murder - I was proud of myself for figuring out whodunnit. (Probably pretty obvious lol). However the main character irritated me to no end - I get it, she’s dying so maybe I need to cut her some slack but does she need to be so obnoxious? And the author did Sophia dirty
like first of all, the fact Sophia was basically poisoning her father in law was absurd and so wackadoodle I found it hard to believe and there’s no reconciliation between Jet and Sophia? I don’t understand why we needed them to have been friends before Sophia married Jet’s brother… that whole dynamic was bizarre and unresolved to me.

I loved this book. The only reason it isn't a 5⭐️ read for me is that because I didn't relate to the characters a ton I wasn't as emotionally impacted as I wanted to be and kind of expected to be. I love Holly Jackson's writing and plots; they're so addictive and fast-paced (great for getting put of a slump if you need that) and overall just amazing reads. I loved Jet's humor and the song (iykyk) made me cry. I suspected every character at some point in time and though once someone in the book club I was reading it with pointed it out, I did mostly guess who did it; I wouldn't have figured it out on my own. Some of the other plot twists absolutely floored me as is true Holly Jackson fashion. This is my favorite or second favorite (I can't decide bc I'm a bit biased toward AGGGTM since it was my first) Holly Jackson. Auto-buy author for me and can't wait to read what's next.

My first Holly Jackson book and probably my last. I never read thrillers but was so intrigued by the concept and the amazing reviews. The book seems like it was originally supposed to be YA but was changed last minute and the only thing they changed was the characters age and the amount of oddly placed swear words. The main character was so obnoxious and annoying I did not feel sorry for her at all, and during the last 100 pages she randomly had this huge chapter development that seemingly came out of nowhere. The writing felt juvenile and the dialogue wasn’t good. The actual storyline was decently interesting, I did guess the murder at the very end but was mostly guessing wrong for most of the book. It’s wasn’t enough to outweigh the bad writing and character creation though. I guess maybe I also just don’t like thrillers. The enig was bad, felt super random.
