I have to start by saying the audiobook narration felt a bit off for this one. The character voices just didn't feel right to me, which was disappointing because I usually love audiobooks.

But the concept was absolutely original and fascinating right from the start. Holly Jackson really came up with something fresh here and I was immediately hooked. This thing is fast-paced, I blazed through the first 50% in one sitting, which says everything about how engaging it is.
As always, I love Holly Jackson's writing style. She's got this perfect balance of witty and hilarious dialogue, but she knows exactly when to hit you with the emotional moments. Speaking of emotional, this one is definitely heavier on the feelings than her previous books, though the thriller elements are just as strong as anything else she's written.

I absolutely loved this book! It felt so fresh and different, and it got quite emotional by the end, which I honestly didn't see coming at all. I won't forgive Holly Jackson for that heartbreak though 🥲 She really knows how to hit you right in the feelings when you least expect it. This is another winner from her and I'm so glad she's continuing to experiment with different concepts while keeping that signature writing style I've come to love.

HOLLY! YOU CAN’T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THESE KILLER (joke intended) PLOTS!
I have a little game with myself to see if I can guess the killer before they're revealed (specifically for Holly Jackson books, because she does SO well) and I can happily say I got kinda close this time around
I really thought it was going to be Billy and was SHOCKED to my core when it wasn't

I'm pleased, though of course, I a already had big expectations, they were met and exceeded!

on Holly Jackson you have done it again, endless thanks @tandemcollectiveglobal @ballantinebooks @hojay92 for having me on this readalong and gifting me a copy of Not Quite Dead Yet [AD-PR Product]

you know Jet dies at the end but you just can’t help rooting for her to overcome the odds. she’s genuinely so funny, her wit and one liners made her beyond easy to love. there’s so many characters and so many things happening yet i never felt confused and that’s a true testament to Jackson’s talent.

now did i guess the killer, obviously not but i would like a round of applause for guessing two of the twists, a new record for me yall. the layers to this book made it impossible to stop turning the page and the fact that it takes place in a week means the pacing never slacks.

there was a lot of sadness in this one (and enough medical terminology to make me squeamish) i highly recommend this one, especially as the weather turns
