Lyrical and beautiful imagery abound, like most of Winterson's books. A solid read. Not heart breaking but a nicely paced scratch for those moments you want a heart-touching story.

Compelling enough story - as most witch stories are for me - but missing Winterson's beautiful poetic language and the palpable passion that defines so much of her other work. I was not swept away as I have been by her other books.
