A fun continuation to the first story which managed to make me care for Maude, someone I didn’t care about at all in the first book. I’m excited to see how this all concludes.

bought the book and got about 80 pages in before realizing that the reason i was so confused was this is the second book in a series. oops! i never said i was smart! (i knew the author had other books but thought they were three unrelated stories in the same universe)

i put the first book on hold at the library and will come back to this one once i finish the first :)

Here's what I loved about this, it was essentially a murder mystery boat story with magical elements. I enjoyed the characters and the whimsicalness of the story, but I just didn't love it as much as the first book. It was alright and I do find the story and plot interesting but I just didn't get to see that much of the plot of the first book brought into this one, it felt chaotic and not in a way I liked. It also took me forever to get through because I just couldn't connect to the characters as much as the first book.
