my first time reading a memoir-style graphic novel and while it was interesting to read about a period  and region that i didn't know much about (islamic cultural revolution in iran) in a new medium, i wasn't really able to connect or get invested in the story. marjane's emotionally charged narrative unfortunately didn't hit hard for me but i'm glad to have gone through it.

I was told such good things about this book but I really just didn’t love it. It wasn’t awful but idk maybe it was the style of the dialogue combined with the narration that threw me but I just didn’t really like this book that much.
