this hurt my heart to read, but im so happy for Carrie, she deserves all the love. as heartbreaking as this was to read, im very happy with how it ended

as soon as she said that the doctor blamed her for not being able to get pregnant, I knew it was her husband who had the problems.

This was intriguing from the beginning.   It focuses on the question, "When is it time to give up on a relationship?"  I loved that there were hints of where this was going to go, and then it took a different turn than I expected.  That usually doesn't happen in romances.  This was a deep, emotional romance as opposed to a light, fun one.  It was smartly executed.

I will read everything Taylor writes. Seriously.
I believe she is the best at creating character driven stories with complex characters and their own weird, complex moral complex without sounding preachy... and, at the same time make you feel for these characters, and understand them.
I do believe that she managed to acomplish this as well in this short story (the letters create a very nostalgic, very tied-to-its-time feeling that works very well with the narrative that is being told), and yet, although I like the story as it is very compelling, I wanted a longer version of it. I needed more

This was a really quick and easy novella. I liked the author’s style of writing in ‘Daisy jones and the six’ and ‘Seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo’ and this had exactly the same appeal.
As someone who’s been cheated on before, I was very empathetic to the victims. Although this is fiction, it brings home, the audacity of people who betray their partners in such deceitful, manipulative and selfish ways. It certainly gives some insight in to their motivations.
Of course, this is quite a predictable read, there is a final twist at the end, I didn’t predict though.
6/10
