The writing was beautiful and atmospheric, and I really liked the last part of the book. Other than that, this book was just... meh. There was a lot of stuff that I found boring, and a lot of stuff that weirded me out. And for the most part, the love story didn't even feel like one.

Very beautifully written, philosophical and sentimental story about what lust and a soul connection between an unlikely (and LGBT+) pair feels like. Especially the first half is quite erotic, sometimes vulgarly so, but in my opinion it doesn't overshadow the other parts and this book is worth reading even if you prefer to skip/skim over those scenes.

This book was a wonderfully poetic read that had the exact feeling of slow molasses summer in a book until you hit the bit where
the TEENAGER starts banging the FULLY GROWN ADULT.  Elio says at one point that he knows nothing (paraphrasing) and that is the only way I could enjoy the rest of this. It was just taking the whole relationship and following story in the context of a teenager romanticising something he truely does not understand.

A book that I intend to come back to time and time again. Aciman has a unique way of writing that I fell in love with immediately. The only fault, in my opinion, is the fact that the romance itself is between an adult and a minor, and the age gap isn't so small as to validate the relationship (e.g. it isn't between, say, a 17- and 19-year-old), but Elio's naivety is used well and contributes a lot to the plot.
