This book is incredible. If that wasn’t an EPIC ending, I don’t know what is. The series gets better as it progresses.b I like the new places they explored in this book, and don’t even get me started on the Drakens, the kickass trio that is Cas, Poppy, and Kieran, and that cruel ending. This book has more plot twists. Poppy gets to know her identity and she gets, even more, stronger, while Cas always helps her, rescued her, and showed her what she means to him. His actions speak louder than words. Poppy is such a strong, resilient badass girl in this book. I like that we get to see Casteel’s parents in this book and that they are part of the plot too. I whooped out loud the first time Kind Valyn got involved in a fight. Poppy and Casteel are 100% couple goals. Like holy shit, they are perfect in almost every single way. I'm so happy there was no more relationship drama thrown into this book and they were just allowed to be happy and perfect together.

Casteel, well he is my first fictional fantasy love. He is just my absolute favorite ever. When he literally cried at the one part my heart was breaking Or when he was begging at the end. He has been through so much yet he still keeps supporting Poppy and is such a rock for her. Such a husband material he is.

I liked the character of Kieran as well. And there are characters returning in this book, Malik, I'm sure you will be waiting for when he will be freed but, he is not the same anymore. I'm happy Poppy got to meet Ian once again and Tawny as well.

Well no more spoilers, you surely have to read this book after reading the first two. I love this book and Casteel.

What I like:
⬛The strong badass main character
⬛Amazing secondary characters
⬛Cas and Poppy's love
⬛Funny banter
⬛Action
⬛Gods and mythology and DRAKENS!!
⬛Strong antagonist (Spoiler: the most famous Isabeth returns.)
⬛AND PLOT TWISTS!

Oh my gods. So good. Yes this ends in a cliffhanger, but this cliffhanger is pretty epic. About 95% of my workday is dedicated to reading and writing (and most workdays are well over 9 hours). As a result, for a very long time (years), I stopped reading for fun because, despite a few attempts here or there, I could never find a series over which to get excited. Reading had just become too associated with work. After forcing myself to start reading outside of work again at the beginning of the pandemic, I was finding that a lot of book series were somehow destroyed by their second or third books. I was beginning to think that there were no good series out there until I stumbled across From Blood and Ash and A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire. I was actually excited about the release of this third book! But, of even greater importance, my excitement was not in vain. Now all I can say is—I am already done waiting for the fourth book. Can I have it now, please?

I did not like this at all. What was in the description didn’t even start until more than halfway in and it felt super short. There is way too much spice and that hurts the plot. And it is just not well written to me, feeling like it jumps around and is repetitive.

It also feels weird to me how much emphasis is placed on what bloodline someone is. Every time Poppy sees someone she has to know if they are Atlantan, mortal or other and it just gives a bad vibe.

It’s trash and I’m trash but it wasn’t addictive trash. If I hadn’t grown up reading fanfics I probably wouldn’t have made it this far.

I stayed because it could be great. But I’m very, very aware of the characterisations of the mains couple and long winded deep pov being trash.

Im not invested in the main character’s relationship. The sex is not that sexy. It’s like a teen rebellion/very basic idea of what feminism might be from someone bought up with deep rooted misogyny and patriarchy. It’s not intentionally trying to be, it’s more the attitude. And it’s not subtle or elegant in its delivery.

The plot was interesting. The world is interesting. I wanna know more about the reavers and they got a paragraph. Wtf!? The set up for the relationships and characters is there. They just suck in a non life affirming way.

It dragged and was frustrating. You’ve got vampires, werewolves, gods and other mystical creatures and happenings and you’ve bored me. How?!
