I watched the movie YEARS ago long enough that the only thing I remember about it is the ending. But it stuck with me all of these years. At some point, I put the novel on my TBR and recently decided it was the perfect time to read it. It was cliche and Landon is intolerable for the first 70 pages, but it is a truly emotional novel, and the ending got me. Usually, a heavy use of religion doesn't do it for me, seeing as I'm an atheist. This book can get away with it though, I never felt annoyed about it. The last 30 pages of this novel are rough, it has a "happy" ending but it's still a devastating book at heart.

Not my normal type of tea, but it did what it was supposed to do. I think this is one of the books that bridges people who don't read the genre to avid tragedy lovers. That's a beautiful thing when it comes to any novel. I highly recommend the movie and the book.

So I am picking this one up for two reasons. One: I took a quiz today on FB on which Nicholas Sparks guy I should end up with, and of course it was Landon Carter. Two: I saw a picture Mandy Moore posted on IG from filming where she was getting ready for the play that is in the movie.

I took it as a sign.

Well I finished! Review later when I'm on the computer. 4 1/2 stars!

I really like this book, and I was real hesitant about reading it just because:.......I HATE the movie, yeah I know..The only reason I even watch it was because of Shane West, but I just did not like it...but I really recommend this book!

What can I say? This book had me crying like a baby!! My husband probably thought I was crazy due to the huge sobs I was letting out towards the end.

Let me start by saying that I'm a sucker for Nicholas Sparks book. I've downloaded his entire collection and plan on working my way through it this year. His books always make me cry, but I always fall for a good love story - and that he never fails to deliver.

I had seen the movie years and years ago but honestly didn't remember much- so I felt good and unbiased about reading the book. While some parts were definitely predictable, it didn't change the fact that a very beautiful and heart warming love story was evolving throughout the book.

Jamie is someone who all of us should strive to be like. Selfless, giving, caring, kind... Even knowing that she's different than others and that others are negative towards her she doesn't let it bother her. In my book she is the perfect example of a christian.

I love that this book is from Landon's perspective. I don't read a lot of books that come from the male POV, so it was a nice change.

If you'd like to read a beautiful love story, grab a box of tissues and cuddle up with this book.

The book was better than the movie - not hard to guess by that.
