Another exciting novel full of facts and complete plot twists that are so true to life, you wonder if McNab is really writing his life story.

The thing to remember about Nick Stone is he isn't that spy who realises the truth behind every lie as they're being told, he's not that American CIA wizard who somehow just knows. He's the fool whose always being played, then kicks the buggers teeth out. And this book is full of those moments.

This is my first from Andy McNa, and I was somewhat surprised by the level of detail in his descriptions of surroundings. For example, he describes in extraordinary detail a room – to what purpose I did not figure out figure. However, I did recognize my own use of cuss words is a likely consequence of my time in the military – the author uses the same cuss words as I used and in the same fashion so at least in that respect the writing is genuine. Decent story with a solid plot and good pace – well done and I'll read the next one.

The second book in the Nick Stone series. It is well written and moves along at a nice pace.

I was reading along and everything was going well until it wasn't. I found the relationship between Nick and Sarah to be totally implausible considering the back story provided by McNab at the start of the book. She completely shut him down, and we are expected to believe three years later he just forgets everything she said and did and can't see she is manipulating him? I don't think so. McNab writes action well but not romance. I'm leaving and won't be coming back.

This book took me a while to get into. I left it for a while and finally got back to it a week ago. The storyline is brilliant, Stone has to hunt down an ex lover. You are introduced to her in the first chapter and you already start to dislike her. McNab later makes you start to like her, and think that she is a good person for Stone. I won't say anymore as it ruins the ending as this book's second half focuses mainly on their relationship which isn't all birds and bees since neither of them are that type.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is in to thrillers and the regiment type books as they are really interesting and you even get a tour of The White House. :)
