This is part of a vampire series. It's the second one I've read (although this is the first book in the series). They're not as good as Anne Rice, but still interesting. They go back in time a bit, but mostly focus on today. I'd reccommend it.

This vampire tale is set sometime in the 90s. Lots of references to 80s/90s fashion and pop culture. The main character, Diedre, is a vampire but she doesn't kill her victims. The story itself wasn't bad and I wanted to know who the "bad guy" was, but some of the plot twists didn't make much sense. I bought the 2nd book in this series at the same time that I bought this one, so I am hoping the writing gets better.

While I did enjoy this novel it was actually a re-read for me, and I was disappointed in what I'd remembered from the novel versus what was actually there.

The relationship between Mitch and Deirdre to me is barely tolerable, due to the way he acts around her. It comes across as so possessive and perhaps that is supposed to be her draw on him due to her supernatural nature but instead it left me feeling nervous.

While not badly written, the book could've used a little more fleshing out, although I did enjoy reading about vampires written as monsters.
