Oh, Bill. Your metaphors are absolutely ridiculous to decipher but it was a good time.

4 stars. Never read any of Shakespeares’ sonnets in school so this was a lot of fun. A lot of these were really great. Sure, there were some that went completely over my head but I still enjoyed them. There are so many sonnets (well over a hundred!) and so there’s a large variety of topics but I liked that a good majority of them were romantic and or based on love in some kind of way. That was cool. I thought this was a great collection and that’s coming from someone who isn’t big into poetry but I definitely enjoyed this.

It was really interesting reading all of Shakespeare's sonnets, having only read a few of the famous ones at school. I didn't know there were two distinct stories/narratives to the sonnets, so that was quite interesting.
I enjoyed them! I read them out loud, a couple a day, and I learned how to read with rhythm and to let the sonnets flow. It was a fun experience there were some beautiful lines that I have highlighted (but don't remember).

I’ve never read this entire collection through and I think reading it that way made me rethink the sonnets I’ve always loved. There is an obsession with youth and betrayal and death in this that I definitely overlooked. The moments that shine are shared worldwide for a reason. The entire section on why we must have children felt so bizarre and was the worst section for me.
