Torrey Peters remains one of my favorite authors with me now finishing this book. This caused so many deep emotions to be brought out of me. Hell, it even made me begin to consider getting bottom surgery. But that's not important right now. I had taken to the habit of sitting in the park near my apartment and reading this book and it always felt nice, until it would be a particularly intense moment and I would vocalize in some way, attracting attention from those around me.
Reese has got to be one of my favorite characters I have read in a while. I couldn't help but see of most all my transfemme friends and myself in her. Basically, this book is really good and I don't know what else to say. I can't wait to see what she comes out with next.

I dunno this just wasn't really my thing I wasn’t expecting as much sexual content as there was so i wasn’t prepared for that. Also just made me feel really sad hearing abt Ames and Reese’s experiences.

This book almost read like it could be a sociological dissertation. But a dissertation could never have the charm, wit, and love that Detransition, Baby has. It’s impressive to toe the line between direct social commentary and messy romance drama but Torrey Peters does it incredibly well. I want to emphasize what another reviewer said so well: every character does not need to align with and champion your ideals. Every character in this book is messy. And I loved that about them.

This was an incredible read. A book written for trans people, not to explain trans people to the world. Deeply flawed but loveable characters who make mistakes and hurt each other, but with an undercurrent of love.

An unapologetic and eye-opening book about the trans experience (although, as the book demonstrates, there is no one way to be trans). The premise was so niche and different but nonetheless it was dealt with in a very realistic way, and the three main characters were all flawed and vaguely unlikeable but written in a way where you could still sympathise with them. Be warned: in order to enjoy the book you need to be comfortable with taking the scenic route to the plot, but Torrey Peters’ writing - if a little meandering - is so brilliant that I got a couple hundred pages in before realising that not much had actually happened plot-wise. I suspect that I’ll be thinking about this book for a long time.
