This book is so cute! I really enjoyed reading it. It's perfect for an upper elementary, middle school boy to read, although girls would love it too. The author has a great sense of humor (be sure to read the acknowledgements all the way through :).

Fun, light hearted sci fi book for any age.

Perfect book for my 5th grade boys...what could be better than a boy who plays basketball who spends the summer working at his Grandma's Bed and Breakfast? Oh, did I mention that all her customer's are aliens who arrive via transporters which we all know as closets? Great fun!

"David, otherwise known as Scrub (don't ask), isn't happy about leaving Florida and his friends to summer with his grandmother in "Middle of Nowhere," Washington. When he arrives at her Intergalactic Bed & Breakfast, he isn't surprised by its 60s meets Star Wars decor, but he is surprised by the weird-looking guests. It turns out that each room in the inn is a portal, and his grandma is the gate-keeper, allowing aliens to vacation on Earth. Grandma desperately needs Scrub's help with welcoming (and disguising) the tourists, shopping for cartloads of aluminum foil for dinner, and taking rambunctious alien kids camping in the nearby woods. The problem is, the town sheriff--already suspicious about Granny--is a scout leader camping in the same spot. Will Scrub blow Granny's cover, forcing the B&B to shut down forever? Full of cosmic chaos and mind-bending mayhem, Scrub's summer adventure will leave readers wanting to make a return trip."

I'll be writing this up for an upcoming Sci Friday!

A nice addition to a classroom or school library. Kids will enjoy the humor.

Aliens on Vacation is pure fun. David (Scrub) is sent to his grandmother's for the summer. Never having met her, he is unsure what to expect--except that she's crazy. She owns the Intergalactic Bed & Breakfast. It doesn't take David too long to realize that it is, in fact, an intergalactic Bed & Breakfast.

As David's grandmother comes to depend on his help running the Inn, with all its unusual requirements, David begins to realize how much it means to him that his grandmother places such trust and responsibility in him. He grows from being resentful and dismissive of his grandmother and her business to defending her at all cost--even his own public humiliation.

Aliens on Vacation is by turns sweet (although not too much so) and funny. It's a perfect read-aloud choice for middle elementary ages or as an independent reading choice. Boys and girls alike will enjoy Scrub and his experiences with the extraterrestrial life forms at his grandmother's vacation destination--particularly the camp-out excursion!

In this science fiction book, Scrub spends the summer with his eccentric grandma. Scrub is trying to make new friends while he is dealing with his grandma's interesting guests. Scrub ends up being a great help to his grandma and her tourists.

When Scrub is sent to visit his grandmother for the summer, he is sure it is going to be a long boring summer. It is anything but at the Intergalactic Bed & Breakfast! Scrub finds himself entertaining "tourists" and helping his grandmother stay in business. A book that 4-6 graders are sure to enjoy.

Aliens on Vacation is the PERFECT gift for adults and kids alike. It's a fun and fast read, and one of the few books I've read lately that I would refer to as "a romp." If you liked the movie Beetle Juice (and who doesn't love Beetle Juice) than you will LOVE LOVE LOVE Aliens on Vacation. Take this book with you on vacation, or read it when you need a vacation from life. Clete is hilarious, the writing is tight, and even better, there will be sequels!
