I loved this book for a few reason. Firstly, I couldn’t put it aside after I started reading so I’ve had a few nights when I’d go unreasonably late to bed because it was just interesting what’s going to happen to Eleanor. Secondly, finally a book that is showing trauma and mental illnesses with empathy and not by obviously not understanding it. It was a heartwarming read and I loved that I could imagine Eleanor (as others) in real life (although her story is very extreme). A wonderful read!

The first half or so of this book was good and the second was incredible. It's funny as much as it is serious. The characters are loveable but not in an obvious way- you find yourself slowly learning to love them.

The first hundred pages or so were difficult to plod through but once I did, I was glad to have done so. Eleanor is a tribute and testament to how those of us who have survived traumatic experiences adapt and evolve in order to go through the rigors of daily life. A book that reminds us that we should always be kind to others, for we don’t know what they’re going through, Eleanor Oliphant truly is completely fine.
