This book handles describing the aftermath of SA very well in my opinion. Because it is so incredibly detailed in that regard, it will not be for everyone. However, other than one flashback, all of the rape fantasy scenes are consensual non-consent. The MC has both a verbal and nonverbal safe word throughout.

Please, before reading this book, be informed of the trigger warnings. There is explicit content and themes that are uncomfortable or distressing, so it's important to approach this book with caution and consider your personal boundaries.

Honestly, if you've read the trilogy of fifty shades, I don't think it's worth reading this. I mean, obviously, there are still differences, but it is simply the same; it is not unique. Also, most of the dialogue between the characters felt really forced. It is also pretty predictable.
Although I'll be reading the second book because I want to give it a fair chance and see if the story improves, I can't deny that there were some intriguing plot elements that kept me engaged, especially toward the end.

4.5* - this book has wrecked me!

I read this as part of   @fandomtasticpod's #readtastic22 reading challenge and O.M.G.

First of all, a book that has the Rape of Proserpina on it's cover immediately grabbed my attention and once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. I found it to be one of the most tastefully done representations of a consensual non-con relationship. The dichotomies in this book, holey cow -  both erotic & wholesome, dangerous & caring.

I am in love with both Vivienne & Jonah, and the way it ended...not necessarily a cliff-hanger but a how do they move forward - I can't wait to find out!

Finished this in 24 hours, it’s that easy to read. It’s intense and definitely not for everyone. Trigger warnings up the wazoo. Also, it ends in a cliffhanger (which I hate).

I liked the characters, even though the way Jonah is described sometimes made me think he was a black-haired Duke Nukem.

The writing itself is not great, but it’s not awful either. It’s perfectly serviceable. The whole thing was pretty salacious but for some reason, I couldn’t fully connect with it. It felt like I was being kept at a distance as a reader.
