Well, this wasn’t what I was expecting, and in the beginning I was ok with that. It had a light-hearted, wholesome feel to it with unique characters and low-ish stakes. However, what started out feel-good turned into childish and boring. The dialogue was super juvenile, the characters turned out to be selfish and kind of creepy (not in a hot way) trying to win over the FMC.

OMG!

I couldn't stop listening to this audiobook. In fact, I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning engrossed in this story.

Both the author, Sandra R. Neeley and the narrator, Loretta Rawlins are new-to-me but wow, what a dream team.

This audiobook ticked every box for me.
✅ Female protagonist with gumption
✅ Dark and deadly male protagonist with a heart of gold
✅Found family theme
✅ Action, fighting, smexy time, romance, tension.

I can't wait to go back to the paranormal haven of Whispers.

3.5 rounded up

This was a cute little story, rather like a beauty and the beast retelling with some twists. A gargoyle, well... a few gargoyles, though only one is a love interest. Add in a vampire, an ancient and a shrouded settlement hidden from human eyes, then mix in said human and watch havoc ensue. It’s kinda fun! One thing though? Editing!!! This needs to be gone over and culled... it needs paragraphs! Seriously, some of the paragraphs are actually pages and there are far too many POV switches without preamble or separation.

Pros:
- Cute.
- I liked the idea of Whispers.
- Set in the early 1900’s.
- HEA.

Cons:
- Editing.
- Love was rushed and forced.

I shouldn't judge and audiobook by its cover but I definitely did. I thought this was going to be darker but it was pretty much the sweetest romance I've read before. The tension and bad behaviour was made by other people but the couple and the characters around them was just naaw. It wasn't perfect, there were some things I didn't like but overall I'm excited to see Destroyers romance. The love intrest had difficulty communicating as first, with the vocals. But Destroyer definitely have some issues as well in his own way so I'm intrigued to see it play out.

First off, the book starts out with the FMC having already escaped from her would-be rapists. So, the reader has no attachment to her and no empathy for her situation. And therefore, we don't give a darn when she's "rescued"...by a language-less gargoyle who just wants to take her as his own.

Then, we find out that others like him speak perfect English. Which is where I DNFed. Got all the way to chapter 5 and the monsters were still dickering about what to do with her and fighting over her. On and on and on. Ugh!

WOW!!! Where to start!

First, Carnage puts you through so many feelings. I laughed, I cried, and I wanted to throw my kindle. Carolena is a human in Lousinana, watching over her fathers imvestments. she realizes though that she isnt safe frpm humans. Carnage is a gargoyle. He saves Lena (her nickname).

What happens when Carnage claims his Lena? Will she stay safe? Will she claim Carnage?

Read it and find out
