great mix of stories - some wonderful, others not so much - just what a short story collection should be. fave: Bad Little Kid.

With the audiobook version, Stephen King said a little something between each story about writing or about how he got the idea. Besides one or two stories I sincerely could not get into, this was a beautiful collection and I will be eagerly awaiting the next one. This man made me enjoy a story about baseball, sport that I cannot -- for the life of me -- understand or appreciate. Strongly recommend this, especially the brilliant performances on the audiobook.

I have always been a huge Stephen King fan, and his short stories have always been a particularly wonderful way to slip into a short sharp horror story that lingers long after it's done. The Bazaar of Bad Dreams has the added appeal of a short intros written by King before each story. Overall I thought the majority of these stories were very good, with one or two that didn't quite work for me.

Mile 81: This was a great start to the collection bringing to mind classic stories, of how nothing is quite like it seems and sometimes the only people who can look at the world properly are those who have not yet forgotten that anything is possible.

Premium Harmony: This was my least favourite, I'll leave it at that.

Batman and Robin have an Altercation: Very sweet.

The Dune: Very creepy, wonderful twist at the end.

Bad Little Kid: Some evils can't be killed.

A Death: don't have much to say about this one.

The Bone Church: eerie, nice format

Morality: Reminds me of "Button, Button" by Richard Matheson - the consequences of a choice will come when it's too late to change your mind.

Afterlife: Interesting view of purgatory and reincarnation.

Ur: My absolute favourite of the collection. I loved the topic and the characters and the wrap up.

Herman Wouk is still Alive: I'm a little ambivalent about this one.

Under the Weather: knowing the answer ahead of time does not spoil the story at all.

Blockade Billy: Baseball is not my thing, but I still enjoyed it.

Mister Yummy: Funny/sad, but mostly about just accepting what's coming.

Tommy: alright, but I may be a bit too young for this to resonate with me.

The Little Green God of Agony: Second favourite after Ur; leaves you wanting more.

That Bus is Another World: Everyone is always in their own little world, and intersecting worlds can be dangerous.

Obits: Third favourite/ on par with GGA. What do you do when you suddenly discover you have a terrible power over others?

Drunken Fireworks: It's funny and sharp

Summer Thunder: I'm a sucker for end-of-the-world scenarios and this is no exception.

This aren't King's best stories. Hell, he's quite dull in some of this. But, thankfully, he still can satisfy the thirst of the Constant Reader with his pencil of wonders and darks secrets.
A couple of the stories are quite amazing, that I'll admit, but not at the level of what we are used.

I still love Mr. King's job, though. Always will.

It's hard to rate a book of short stories, especially by someone who is so proficient at the long novel. I liked some and I did not care for others.
