I don't know if I would have finished this if I wasn't working with a book club. The first three sessions of about 4 chapters each were all bleak. We were starting to second-guess the hype when the gloom started to lift. 

When the plot and pacing started to lighten up, I understood how so many reviews called it 'laugh-out-loud funny'. It had it's moments. I'm sure the show did that better. I would have to, to stay on the airwaves. 

I'm glad I did this. I'm also glad I'm done.

This book definitely deserves the hype! I have yet to read another book that so perfectly captures what I believe and have experienced feminism to mean. I didn't cringe once! Garmus also wrote one of the most beautiful love stories I've ever read, while placing emphasis on how our main character grew during and after that relationship. I also appreciated the candid way in which conversation around the desire to have children was handled - I felt so seen. I recommended this to all my friends and will definitely be re-reading in years to come!
