Have you ever read a book that has you so caught up in it that you wish you could read faster, turn the pages faster; the tenseness just pushing you to get on with it! “Something in the Water” is that kind of book. It’s a “been there, done that” story line; a couple stumble on to money, a LOT of money, but it’s obviously not their money, and it’s origins are obviously tainted. BUT the temptation is too great … they can keep the money, right?!? It will never be traced back to them, right?!? Great read! I liked it!!

Ultimate story of FAFO 😅 Interesting story but there were many parts of the story that were unrealistic. Wish there was a 7 year layer epilogue to see how everything panned out with the FMC.

This was a fun read! Definitely leaned more toward the adventurous rather than suspenseful but still a good read. I wish there was more resolution in the end about who the “plane people” were and/or at least a confrontation between Erin and Mark felt like the climax fell a little flat without either of those things

I spent the whole book wondering if the protagonist was too stupid to live or crazy like a fox… and it turns out she was too stupid to live. So many loose ends in this one!

Solid middle of the road suspense/mystery. It was a little predictable in some ways, but kept me reading.
The way Erin was acting seemed really stupid a lot of the time. Like, opening the phone, contacting criminals, etc. She had no self preservation instincts it felt like. The twist at the end didn't surprise me but also didn't make sense. I think the author was trying to say money is the root of evil (unless you're a good person?). It just doesn't make sense to me that Mark would become so corrupted by the money they found that he would decide to get rid of his wife and start a new life as a millionaire. Like, they just got married. If he didn't want her around why would he have gone through with all that? Realistically he should have gone to therapy to confront his issues of feeling inadequate when he doesn't have money (rooted in childhood trauma). It was hard for me to believe that Mark was "bad" the whole time, he clearly had some anger issues but idk. Seems like something that could have been worked on. Truly, they should have just not opened the bag, but then there would be no story.
The documentary stuff felt very much like a side plot and almost could have been left out entirely if it wasn't for Erin needing a criminal friend to help her through some of the situation. I feel like there could have been a more organic way to work that in without the documentary/Eddie stuff
