I couldn’t connect with the FMC, she continuously makes awful decisions  that puts herself in danger.

A great quick read đź“š

This is probably one of the better werewolf romances that I have read in my lifetime. I say this purely from how the characters act, their personalities and character development. I appreciated that Talia, even though she was scared out of her wits, she still pushed herself to strategize for her own survival. Which I can say, most timid, shy protagonists who have been abused will not do such a thing. Won't even attempt it. So, when read that Talia was going out of her way to try to improve her chances, I was very surprised.

Character-wise, I'd say this book was pretty good, but plot-wise it fell really flat for me. I kept hoping and expecting a big reveal to happen and it never did. There is a small something, but not enough to be called a "climax" to the story. The whole book seemed to amount to nothing. The plot felt really watered down.

As I read the book the author seemed to favor italicizing certain words to add emphasis on the importance of a matter. And I don't know if this is just me, but if felt like the author was emphasizing the wrong words in certain sentences. Which just confused me.

Otherwise, I am interested in continuing on with the series.

The writing wasn't grabbing me and I couldn't get behind any of the characters.

really good idea, pretty bad execution

the fmc was captured at the age of 12 and kept in a cage for 9 years. this leads to a strange dynamic between her and the love interests as its clear she still has the mind of a 12 year old. she would have a thought or act in a way that was particularly juvenile but then be put into a romantic situation with one of the men

i read about 50% of the second book but at some point had a visceral reaction to how young she seemed at times that i couldn’t continue

i feel like this could have been avoided if she was taken at an older age. or even a shorter captivity at an older age if the author was set on her being in her early 20s. or maybe if her character was just written differently

i would love to know what happens further in the plot, as i still do think the concept is interesting, but there are sooo many books in this series and i don’t think I could subject myself to reading any more

there is disability rep in this books which is always great to see

this was fun! while it felt slow in parts, the writing made up for it! the characters are a bit formulaic but i enjoyed the story a lot and im excited to see how the plot and world expand in the rest of the series!

3.5 stars

I really enjoyed the beginning of this book. A lot of my initial questions were answered pretty early on. I enjoyed the plot and the few spicy scenes scattered about. I'm very intrigued to see where the story goes, especially since there are EIGHT more books!

Talia made some questionable choices that started making me angry, but overall I enjoyed this book. Interested to find out whats up with her.
