While each book has its own story arc - there are also storylines that run through the series, so it’s best to read/listen to them all and in order.

We met Court & Lauren in the last book and it was apparent they had a history. This is a solid second chance romance mixed with action - heavier on the romance/relationship aspect but still enough FBI investigation & stalker-suspense to keep things moving. Regular updates with Alex & Mad as well as hints to make me interested in Nate & Taylor’s book, Ace of Spades.

Dual narration. I'm a fan of both Amy McFadden & Sebastian York. They both did a good job with all the various voices, perspectives, and emotions.

I love second chance romances and this one was good. King of Clubs is a well written story, with some good plot twists, lots of action and excellent pace.

I not only liked both main characters but they felt normal and believable as people. The chemistry between them was so hot and the connection very real. Court was a bit of an a$$ when he first learnt the truth regarding Lauren's disappearance 6 years ago but thankfully, once he got over himself, Court grew to understand and accept her choice.

With his alpha male 'bada$$ness' and also his hidden gentle side Court was one smoking hot hero. Lauren wasn't a pushover either, she stood her ground when necessary and made her own choices.

The story really held my interest and whilst some aspects were out of the usual (hacking, FBI agent etc) they were within the realms of possibility. The writing was of a good standard, the plot flowed well and the story was very easy to read. I enjoyed the book enough that I have now bought the first book in the series.

Another good one in the series. Note: there is a flashback of serious domestic abuse that happened to the heroine, so please be aware of that, before going in.

I seriously love Court. He tried so hard to protect his heart, and rightfully so. He didn't shy away from showing he was hurt by Lauren. And while he was willing to sacrifice what he wanted to be with, he struggled with that decision in an honest and realistic way. Thankfully it wasn't necessary, in the end, because Lauren wised up.

Also, the end and the mystery around their mom continuing, omg! I have to read Nate's story so I can eventually figure out how all this ends!!!

King of Clubs grabbed me from the very start and kept me hooked throughout. As it was extremely enjoyable to read, had plenty of suspense and the action towards the end was great too. Especially the final take down which I thought was very original.

It was also full of romance and I loved the story between Court and Lauren. Who are both extremely likable characters. That had plenty of chemistry and shared a few hot moments.

And overall I thought this story had a great blend of romance and suspense. It also left me wanting more. So I will definitely be checking out Nates story when its released. As for King of Clubs I would happily recommend it to others. Especially if you love a good second chance romance, that has a suspense element to it. And you certainly don't need to have read Jack of Hearts to enjoy this.

I loved this book just as much as I loved the first one. I see a lot of protective hero's in romance books but I loved how there was a protective heroine. Plus Court was protective but not pushy or demanding. He was truly head over heels for Lauren. Lauren was scared, but her fears were all reasonable. She was very relatable. There was a good amount of suspense and action in this book. I liked how much we saw Alex and Madison. I also liked how this was similar to the first book in terms of mystery but at the same time the author made sure it was so different and unique from the previous one. Once again the epilogue left me intrigued. I also can't wait to read the next book about Nate and Taylor. He has been the big brother, the leader, but I feel like he is a mystery and I want to know more. It is a real unique series when the books have all been this good, where I love all the characters and there is not one that is better because they are all that amazing.

Enjoyed

I have enjoyed listening and reading this series. Nice to discover more about the Gentry Brothers in each book! Bonus to have Sebastian York and Amy McFadden narrate!

I first fell in love with the Gentry brothers when I had the opportunity to read Alex Gentry's story Jack of Hearts. Little did I know that better was to come. This story is about Court, the middle brother, and we finally get a chance to really get to know him and how his past intersects with his hoped for future.

This book is hot but it is more the sexual tension between Court and Lauren. Yes there is some sex but nothing to graphic. It is also filled with danger, love, family loyalty and witty dialogue. All the needed ingredients for a book that will keep me up past my bedtime.

I do recommend KING OF CLUBS to any of my readers who enjoy a good romantic suspense as this one will keep you on your toes. I can hardly wait for Nate's story to come out.

*** I received this book at no charge from NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed within are my own.

Eh

So, I enjoyed many Ms. Owens books but there was something about this one that did not inspire quite the same amount of enjoyment. Not rally quite sure what, the writing was fine, but the whole 3 brothers undercover thing? It pushed my suspension of disbelief too far I guess.
