For me the best part was the section called "The Butler Did It." A great look at some of the major events in Batman's life.

The good: The art! I'm a huge fan of pencil sketches and striking black and white imagery, and this delivers! I'm also kind of a fan of the costume Batman whips together mid-story, not gonna lie. The line about "The Black Hand always delivers" near the end also cracked me up.

The bad: Basically everything else! What an acid trip of a story, woooo boy. Robin has an adventure during this story that I...basically didn't care about. There was so much going on that Grant Morrison tried to all wrap conveniently into one big story. The end result was convoluted, but not neat.

Result: A resounding meh.

Possibly the most confusing Batman story ever. I get where he was going with it, but hard to enjoy.

Am I dumb? Like am I just straight up dumb? I had to look up the Wikipedia summary for this story immediately after finishing it to see if I missed the vital piece that would make the whole puzzle come together, but I’m just at a total loss.

Morrison's story lines can be hit or miss for me, but it is clear he has always had an affinity for Batman. He goes all out with this one straining the limits of possibility in even Batman's universe. However, the whole alternate Batman personality thing along with Daniel's fantastic art made this one fun.
