This one just didn’t quite hit for me. I loved some of the poems about dating in the modern age but there weren’t enough that spoke to me or hit me in the heart in this collection

I’m a huge fan of poetry that plays with language and spins words in a beautiful and unique way (for example, describing Valentine’s Day as a “Noah’s ark of smugness”), and this collection had both in abundance! The language was sensory and sensual, and I loved the poems later in the collection that centered around modern dating - two that stood out particularly were “To Date An Asian Woman” and “Cafe Au Lait” - a perfect time to read this month too for National Poetry Month (US) and #AussieApril

An exquisite and sensuous collection! Reading a couple of poems from Turbulence each evening has been such a pleasant way to wind down during a fittingly turbulent time. A delicious book for poetry lovers and novices alike — these poems are short, delicate and accessible.
