Bratz Readathon 2020

I don't read too many superhero comics (even though I love Marvel and DC movies), so this was a bit of a new experience for me in that regard, and I must say that it was pretty interesting. Kamala seems like a really relatable, yet badass heroine, and who doesn't love that. I also really like the fact that she's Pakistani, as I don't know a whole lot about their culture, but I'm interested to learn more through Kamala and her family. The only thing that I wasn't the biggest fan of was the pacing, it felt like she became a 'hero' a little too quickly, I personally would've liked to see more time dedicated to her learning how to control her powers. Regardless of that though, I'm still going to pick up volume 2 in the future.

This was one of my first ventures into comic books and I can't wait to explore more!

Absolutely delightful. I will be looking for all things Kamala Khan from now on. Very Int0-the-Spiderversy.

Well drawn and engaging with decent concepts of Muslim-American identity. Also falls into too many tropes and seems to interact with concepts of Muslim-American identity in what seems a lack of consciousness of non-Muslim readers.

Great story, great art, and the first Muslim-American superhero ever (that I know of). Highly recommend this.

So much fun and a relatable heroine. Not all of the plot makes sense, but I just rolled with it.
