Not a huge fan of this play. Read for school out of necessity rather than for personal enjoyment.

This play is a thoroughly enjoyable read. It’s dark and twisted but it’s so well written. I enjoyed Williams style and i’m glad to be studying it for A-Level and it’s definitely my favourite out of the texts that I do.

I was surprised by how much I ended up loving this play. It's a really interesting character study about the effects of racism and class (among other things) on America that has me constantly returning to spot more details - symbolism, foreshadowing, and so so much double-speak - that I hadn't realized the first time I read it, so my copy is steadily being filled with notes and highlights each time I revisit it.

Although I had to read it for class, I actually enjoyed A Streetcar Named Desire. It has detailed, interesting characters with equally engaging relationships between each other. I love the way the setting of New Orleans was described and the role it played in the events of the play. The play also comments on many important themes, including racism, sexism, classism, mental illness, suicide, domestic abuse, and more that I found interesting to analyze.

Even though I read this play for school, it captured my attention more than any other book I've read for a class previously. The story is quite depressing, but the symbolism and character morals make the play a must-read in my opinion.
