Book plot was a little all over the place. Still entertaining but not as good as the first book.

I never thought I'd say this but I miss the old Joe.
This story was lacking a lot of what made You so great. Love and Amy were lackluster compared to Beck and Peach and I think that had something to do with it. Joe just also wasn't the same. The deaths didn't make as much sense and his inner monologue was too tame for somebody who is managing to narrowly escape every bad situation he put himself in.

The second season of You was a much better story. In this book, Joe had no growth. It seemed like he would kill people if they mildly inconvenienced him.. but in the show he was actively trying to stop and be a better person. I don't like that Forty just died from a car accident. I don't like Love's character in this. She's not like Joe, she's just overprotective of Forty.
Sigh. Joe. WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?!
You should have been a standalone. It was almost as if we were reading from another person's point of view, what with the incessant brand name mentioning and whininess. It was creepy for the first 25% of the book at most, but in comparison to You, it was so watered down that it became annoying. So so so disappointed :(

good, but not as much as the first book. a lot of chapters were joe fuming internally while going to the quinns’ various extravagant properties. book love feels more one dimensional than tv love, but that’s probably partially due to joe’s narration.
