This was the first audiobook that I'd ever read and I really enjoyed it. I love the world-building and listening to how the world of Narnia came to be. I also felt like it set the pace well for the upcoming books. I'm really looking forward to continuing this series.

I remember being read this story when I was younger, and it feels like such a piece of childhood. It has the adventure, whimsy, and imaginative traits of any good fantasy book. It was just as fun to read as an adult!

Great story and superb imagination. Yes, this is geared towards kids and yes, there is a Christian slant, but speaking as a 51 year old atheist, these elements don't affect anything. This is a great story that is told well and sets up the whole series.
There is some debate online - shocker - but I am firmly in the camp that thinks this is the best book to read first. Highly recommended if you want a tale of high imagination.
