I had not realized this book was inspired by true tragedies, but felt in my gut how real ever page felt.

This book punches you in the gut and leaves you hollow. I hope every single person reads it and lives with Kiara in every moment of fear, resolve, grief, and courage.

Phenomenal debut.

Absolutely harrowing. I can't believe the sophistication and depth of Mottley's writing on a project she started when she was just 17. I can't wait to keep reading her work in the future. As for this specific work, I think it's such a testament to empathy that it should be even more widely read. Incredible debut.
