Uh, that was STUNNING. I have no notes, except for the fact that I want a follow up short story or something. That genuinely is the best romance book I have ever read to date. There was such a great balance of character development, especially in the academic setting which I loved!!! Elsie and Jacks story was just so beautifully written. Ali hazelwood I worship the ground you walk on.

- The main character annoyed me so often by being so oblivious, insecure and clearly having hardly any self-worth (I understand that she is traumatised, and this was the whole point for her to heal and grow but still). However, I liked how she self-aware she became of her feelings and emotions toward the end and learn how to put her needs first. I also praise Ali Hazelwood for not staring at the end of the story that Elsie is now completely healed and confident in herself because that’s not how it works in real life — you do need more than a few months to gain self-confidence.
- What annoyed me most was her brothers. You can’t convince me that these bastards are older than her, they are literally behaving like teens. The mom is too not the best, she’s manipulative af. I was so happy when at the end Elsie stood up for herself.
- Can someone for once make a man that is not super rich and super tall and is secretly madly in love with our heroine from a get go plz?
- I appreciate the book for trying to be inclusive: I liked how people with diabetes and asexuality/ aromantism (does a word like this exist?) were made visible.
- In many ways the story was so unrealistic and absurd and SO predictable, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Not the best book by Ali Hazelwood, but it’s still very good.
