"Everyone says they want to be happy. But that's much more easily said than done. What does being happy actually mean? And how do you even know when you feel it?"

This book, by Derren Brown, a famous illusionist and magician, considers some of the most profound questions of life and death. It is brilliantly written, deeply moving and was a truly an educative experience. A wonderful friend, who is also a general practitioner of medicine, suggested that I read it and I am pleased that I did, even through it brought up some questions that are difficult to face. I appreciated Derren's exploration of the different ancient philosophies, such as those of Aristotle and Plato, and how their teachings and wisdom are surprisingly modern and relevant to today's lifestyles and the pursue of living a good and happy life. It is a very challenging and candid read and I will certainly return to reading it again as I allowed some of the chapters to flow over me rather than take on the concepts that where being explored.

I also listened to the audiobook, which Derren narrated, which I liked as the author was the narrator and this always brings something more to a book when you hear it spoken by the person who wrote it.
