I picked this up in the middle of the series, but it was a great stand alone book. I'm looking to going back and reading the first 4 and then finishing up the series with the last 3.

Beautiful as Always

The Cat is a great continuation of this wonderful series and because of it, I can't wait to get my hands on Rydan's story to see how things are going (or went depending on how she wrote it) with him and Arora. Not only do we see the wonderful, surprisingly slow-going romance of Trevan and Amara, but we get to see the continual growth of the Kingdom of Nightfall with contributions from each new wife. I didn't want to put this book down often, and I'm eager to get my hands on the last few books.

So I totally picked the book up cause I saw the title and I like cats. The story has really very little to do with cats though other then the one character is a mage shape-shifter and one of his favorite forms is a cat. This is the first book I have read by this author.

main character is kind if annoying and the inner dialogue is very repetative but it really picks up in the last 1/3

Well this book is certainly better than its predecessor. Trevan is the 5th born brother (and eldest of the third set of twins). He also has a prophesy. He's entirely willing to accept his prophesy as he's been waiting for a woman for three long years during their exile to Nightfall Island. In fact, he's a little too eager. Two twin sister wash up on the island, and Trevan just assumes one is for him. It's a little ridiculous how he just falls for Amara without even getting to know her because he figures he's destined to marry her. But, in the end I suppose it all works out. There's a lot of fighting between Amara and Kelly, which highlights some of Kelly's faults as a character (and as a Queen). It gets old after a while, but I like to think that Kelly's had it coming. Surprisingly, for the brother that was supposedly the "player" of the family, this book has the least amount of sex scenes so far!

This book takes place at the same time as The Storm but from a different brothers perspective. I have enjoyed this series from the start.

Amara is wary of mages they chased her out of her homeland. Yet there is something about the mage Trevan of Nightfall that Amara can’t resist. But can he be trusted with her most fiercely guarded secret? Courting such a pretty yet prickly outlander won't be easy, but Trevan is determined to try. She may be fierce, proud, and from a different culture, but after all, he is the Cat, and none but the most fascinating and challenging of women could satisfy him
