I thought this was just an okay book that might have tried to do too much all at once. There was a lot of plot lines that were picked up then dropped again and parts of it that just didn't make sense to the overall plot. I heard this compared to Rosemary's Baby but I would also argue it was very, very loosely based on that.
I found that I didn't really particularly like Rosie or Chad as characters. They both didn't feel fully fleshed out especially Rosie who were following throughout this. She's always alluding to her con artist family which sounded like a cult but we didn't really get a lot of the vibe of that or how that affected her. Chad was just a mystery throughout who I didn't trust from the jump and the "twist" on his character was so out of left field it was unbelievable.
There was also a random plot line with a character in the 60's that didn't really add anything to do the story in my opinion. The plot, as I said, had so many different plot lines picked up, then dropped and I did find the first twist interesting but other than that, it didn't pull me in.
If you are interested in picking up this book, I would recommend doing so and I hope you like it. It wasn't for me.
Moderate: Murder, Suicide, and Child death

I felt the author left too much not wrapped up at the end. What was the charm? Did the Windermere make people more successful? What was up with Rosie's dad's church? All these doors were opened but the book never fully explored them. She went into a bunch of other stuff that felt less important, lots of sex and more descriptive sex than most thrillers, which I don't mind if the author fills out the story.
And the ending was absolutely no surprise. I need to stop reading her subpar books, I just keep hoping she'll improve as a writer.
Narrator Rating: 4.25 stars
The narrator did an excellent job, but her tone for the sister was whiny and annoying.
