Beginning was slow. But then it picked up quickly and I breezed through it. The characters were developed expertly and the plot kept me guessing. I could just imagine the Windermere in my mind!
The alternative storyline with Willa was a beautiful contrast to the here and now.

Like author Lisa Unger, I have a deep love for New York City and was excited to read a thriller set there. The building featured in The New Couple in 5B and its cast of characters reminded me of Only Murders in the Building - with many more supernatural, chilling elements.

Rosie and Chad Lowan are living a life we’re familiar with in NYC; She’s a writer and he’s and actor, recently married and doing their best to make ends meet. Their luck (and life) takes a significant turn when they inherit a luxurious apartment in a building with a chilling history. And while this is seemingly a blessing for the couple, their world begins to quickly unravel after they move in.

I liked reading the story from Rosie’s perspective and the bits of history from previous tenants. There were a few plot points and characters that didn’t fully come together for me, and after being compelled for so much of the book, the ending kind of fell flat.

Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
