This book kept me guessing and I really thought about different ways I could go and how things were going to come together. I wasn’t sure what “gothic thriller” was going to entail but was not predictable, but two parts had me surprised a detective didn’t put things together sooner….but maybe that easy to say as the reader.

Probably not the best choice for me as I don't handle scary books well. Several tense moments.
Also, several instances of "the character saw something and then they knew..."  but what they saw/heard/ec isn't shared with the audience (which drives me crazy)
