Learning about the work that Grace Humingston has done is very inspiring and eye opening. Certain parts of the case were very emotional and tugged at the heart if you are one to care deeply about how women and girls are treated in the world. I would have rated this book higher if the writing had been a slight more cohesive and smoother but I do understand that sometimes it can be quite hard to write nonfiction with a narrative that is presented in this book and the difficulty it can be to keep it engaging the entire time while also trying to include as much information as possible. I think it’s definitely a worthwhile read but that it’s also one that is fine to take your time with and sit with for a while to be able to intake all the information presented.

I wanted to love this book and it started off very good but towards the end it got confusing and repetitive. The story of Grace Humiston is a great story but the book is a little disjointed.

Reads like a very long Wikipedia article. Some parts were thrilling, but others I had to re-read several times to even understand what the author was talking about.

I usually enjoy any bit that relates to sherlock, there is something magical about that time, or his methods, or even the adaptation of his ways. However, this book was a complete miss.
•I picked it up and ignored it, then picked it up again about 3 times.
•Was very boring, slow, unnecessarily complicated
•The story line could have had more potential
•The execution was either hastily done, or overthought to a point of missing it completely
•The characters were very unlikable, in a bad way. For ex: some characters are evil, but you enjoy reading about them, these.. NOPE!
•The unravelling.. the plot, the twists, the "news" , oh man.. was it torture to get through?it sure was!!!
•The only reason i completed the book was because i managed to listen to the second half of it... and get through it fast!

I enjoyed the first half. Then it got boring, repetitive, heavy on the information, & longer than it needed to be.

Wonderful look at a crusading but flawed woman who worked so hard to bring equity to the justice system in early 20th century NY.
