I think I need to read everything this author has written. I love her understated but beautiful writing style that somehow observes and conveys EVERYTHING about her characters.

I started this book because I hoped it would be about Maine, and gays, but I can't even begin to tell you how much it was not. Ooops!

A beautifully written account of mother and daughter with slight melancholic tones. The story really brought to live the many lives in the small town of Shirley Falls, however I found it to go in a bit at times, and by the end felt like there were a few loose ends - but overall an enjoyable read

It definitely has something important to say but is monotonous in places, sadly; it could have done with being about 50 pages shorter.
