I knew all the ways this could wrong from page one, but that outcome wasn't quite what I was expecting. I always like that there is one more twist in a Shalini Boland novel. I get to the end and saw the big twist and a few others, but then there is always one more.
So twisty and engaging. I wasn't sure who I liked or trusted in this one, but enjoyed sitting back and letting the story take me on a journey.
I popcorn thriller that I could easily see as a movie of the week. Don't read much about this one before you start so none of the twists are spoiled.
I easily read this in a day.

This was not my favorite from Boland as the blurb spoilt the entire story. And it's something I tend to notice in a few of her books. Who even does that?? This might be petty but I also hate when something written in the blurb didn't even happen in the story.
Example: "When I confront Niall on the balcony he has an answer for everything. As I search his familiar green eyes, with the sun setting in the background, I can no longer tell if he’s lying. I storm out. But when I return to the villa, in the dark of night, I scream. My husband is lying dead on the veranda."
Yeah, that didn't happen, at least not the way it was written in the blurb.
"I storm out"? No you most definitely did not. If anyone did the storming out, it was him and that was even an entirely different scene. Lol, Beth was the most spineless character in this story and I was waiting for her to actually grow a pair.
The epilogue was the only saving grace in this story.

Firstly Niall is a character who is not likeable at all. This is of course great writing to make you dispise someone so much.
This is such a great book. When you go on holiday you always hope its going to be relaxing but often there are some stressful moments despite good intentions. However, this is not what Beth imagined when Niall suggested where they go on holiday.
This story is totally gripping with some great twists. It's not put me off wanting to visit Italy fortunately, haha. I'm looking fotward to reading more by this author.

I got an ARC from NetGalley and I’m glad I did! I enjoyed this book up until the ending. I thought it took awhile to get started but after that, it was pretty interesting to me. I didn’t like that she jumped to “One Year Later” closer to the ending and we didn’t see how Beth escaped the killer, when she went back to the Villa. I was wondering how she escaped. I can say, I didn’t expect the ending at all though! I thought for sure Niall was dead when he was pushed off the balcony. Overall, this is a good read!
This was ‘decent’ (aside from the god awful characters) up until the revelation of what truly happened. It was just so messy and there was just a whole heaping pile of unbelievable circumstances mashed together to create a “psychological thriller”. Pretty disappointing and not at all memorable or clever.
