I think this book is very well done. It’s not really a biography, more of a this is me and could be you, and that is okay. It’s a story to read that show differences as natural and accepted. This book is not preachy and is not trying to turn more kids trans (as is sometimes suggested). It is a sweet picture book about a child who experienced something other kids may experience as well.

Everyone who has elementary aged children should put this on their family reading list. It is an important and sweet explanation of what it like to be transgender.

I really enjoyed the way Jazz explained her experience of being a trans kid. It is a great source of information for families of trans kids as well as for all families to teach about trans people. It is sad to see this book banned because it can teach tolerance to children and adults alike. This censorship is taking away the voices of many people to speak their truth.

Reading a bunch of queer children’s literature for a project, and I really was eager to include some books about trans kids. I think this book is really good at introducing the concept to kids, but I have some issues with the gender roles discussed in the book. Also, Jazz is a real person, and she isn’t white, so I’m not why her character is white in this book??
But overall, I think this is a really good book for getting kids to understand the transgender community.

This is another book that I watched someone read aloud in a video and I still think that counts just as much.
This is a story about a young trans girl. The book is so sweet and focuses much more on her joy with being who she is than negative aspects.
I know that it's not quite fair to compare books to one another but I liked this better than "Jack, not Jackie".

I enjoyed the illustrations of this book and I'm okay with the message "be who you are". My main hang-up is the ideology that because a boy likes "girl things" that automatically makes them a girl. I disagree. I think a girl that likes stereotypical boy things is a girl that likes stereotypical boy things. If said girl chose to be a boy that's one thing, but liking "boy things" doesn't equate to transgender. Obviously, this is my opinion. You can disagree with me in the comments.
