One of the most important books I've read in a long time. The emphasis it puts on Jazz's knowing deep down that she is a girl, on her self-identification, and that the story shows the respect that her identity and her decision deserves is a wonderful, beautiful thing. That there are kids who can grow up with this message - of acceptance and validation - brings tears to my eyes.

This is so sweet and I love how it’s accessible for children and how it makes it so simple to understand.

Really helpful story to help V start to understand her classmate's gender identity. She made the connection without prompting. The way the story starts with the things Jazz likes makes it easy for a child to connect with her.

A cute children’s book about a young girl who also happens to be trans.

This is the true story of Jazz Jennings, a transgender girl. She grew up always knowing she was a girl, but because she has a boy's body no one was taking her seriously. After meeting with a therapist and understanding that she was transgender her life changed. Her parents accepted her for who she is inside and she was able to start living the life that felt right.

This is a great story about being yourself even if its hard sometimes. This would be a great book to read to children to help them understand what it means to be transgender.

Sweet, warming, and clear. Great for understanding Jazz's journey for elementary aged children. Great for adults too! :)

This book covers gender dysphoria in a way that is relatable to young children. It explains clearly that it is something that is different about someone who feels this way but different isn't a bad thing.

This would be a very good one on one read with young children, 3 to 6 years old to explain what transgender is and how to treat other people who are.
