This is such an immersive read, you get totally entranced in the atmosphere of a Japanese piano competition and the writing is wildly evocative. That is at the same time my praise and my critique for this book, as the descriptions of piano pieces were amazingly done but also went on and on. My guess is that you’d enjoy this book 50% more if you’re a piano and/or classical music fanatic, but I’m glad I read this nonetheless.
